Emerging Technologies Forum

The Emerging Technologies Forum (ETF) is a group established to facilitate stakeholder discussion around emerging grid technologies, concepts and trends that are shaping the future of the electric power industry and that will impact the PJM region. The ETF will convene experts ranging from academia to industry in order to provide education and stimulate discussion and debate on forum topics. Focus will be placed on how emerging grid technologies, concepts and trends will impact power system operations, transmission planning and wholesale markets. Discussions will include recommendations concerning a path forward for the PJM region, where appropriate. In addition, the ETF will provide enhanced transparency with regard to PJM’s Advanced Technology Pilot Program, which provides a partnership opportunity to study the viability of integrating emerging technologies that enhance system reliability, operational and market efficiency, and resilience.

The ETF shall provide informational reporting to the Markets & Reliability Committee, and the Planning, Operating and Market Implementation committees, as appropriate. The Planning, Operating and Market Implementation committees will have the ability to direct matters to this forum.
